Questions VAs ask before they get listed
These are the most common questions we see from new assistants while they are creating or submitting a profile.
Do virtual assistants apply to jobs on Orca?
No. Orca is not a jobs board. You create a profile, set your own rate and availability, and clients find and message you directly when your experience fits what they need.
How do I get clients on Orca?
Clients browse the directory by skill, rate, timezone, and availability. The fastest way to get found is to complete your profile fully: add a clear photo, choose the right service categories, list real skills and tools, and describe the outcomes you deliver for clients.
What happens after I submit my profile?
Your profile goes through review before it appears in the directory. Once approved, it becomes discoverable to clients and they can message you directly. You do not need to keep checking a jobs tab because Orca works through profile discovery and direct outreach.
Why is my profile still around 70% to 90% complete?
That usually means one or two high-impact fields are still missing. The most common gaps are profile photo, service categories, skills, languages, rate, weekly capacity, years of experience, and clear client outcomes. Completing those sections usually gets you the rest of the way.
Why is my profile photo upload failing?
Use a JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF under 4 MB. If the image is much larger, unusually formatted, or still processing from a phone export, resize it and try again. A clear headshot helps your profile get approved and improves trust when clients browse.
What is my handle and what should I write in the profile fields?
Your handle becomes your public Orca profile URL, so keep it short and professional. In 'Who I Help' describe the type of client you support, and in 'Outcomes I Deliver' explain the business results you create, not just a list of tasks.
